I recorded some video of it. I will see about a way to upload it for all to see.

What do you guys mean by 3-zone? Is there a way to adjust the back seat separately in the premium? I thought it was a 2-zone.
I have to agree with tucalong, I adjust the temp maybe twice a year, never missed a sync option.

Sorry to disappoint you, but its not an "undocumented mystery button", it is the fan speed dial. Not strange at all, almost every car ever made has one

Here is how I "sync" the temp in my A6 with & without the SYNC button.

Sorry to disappoint but there is no way of doing this if you don't have the full 4-zone system.
If you notice, that system has temp dials with no hard markings for the temp, rather the temp is shown in the display so hitting Sync simply changes the LCD display.
The 'base' climate control uses temp settings placed around the dials and it seems Audi has not linked it to cancel out the other side or electrically rotate the other dial to match the drivers and then move with the driver dial...a bit complicated considering they went with these dial.
Mercedes has been using this sort of set up in many of their cars for quite some time now and a Volvo S80 I rented recently had the same set up.
With that said, it is odd that Audi didn't build in the functionality of sync in this system considering many buyers coming from the previous A6 and those stepping up from say an A4 would have become accustomed to it.
I have a few friends who work at Audi and will ask for you all if this is something they are aware of and/or perhaps a work around is in the works.
On a side note, for those with the new A6, you are one lucky group. What a stunning and amazing car.
Happy motoring.
