Default Cellphone holder

Hi,

I was wondering if you guys use any particular phone holder on your cars.

I use Google navigation on my phone a lot and right now I just let the phone stand on top of the storage cover in front of the shifter (leaning towards the controls).

On my other car, I use a Garmin one that I just put on top of the dashboard but the MMI screen will kind of block that.

Thanks.

Is there any particular reason why you're using Garmin/Google Navigation, when Google Maps is available through the A6's navigation system?

I guess your best option depending on your phone/gps device, is to get a suction holder, and put to left of the windshield on the driver's side, so it's not blocked by the MMI screen.

One reason would be the fact that Audi doesn't offer reasonable priced map updates and is unable to fix certain issues with unusual house numbers (i.e. 3W222 doesn't work).

I use this Proclip/Brodit holder with my iPhone and it's perfect:

I first tried this one but it fell off after a while:

Exactly. I don't want to pay for yet another data plan with a different provider.

You don't have to pay for anything to use the nav system, the map data is stored on the car's harddisk.

Thanks for the link.

True enough but the included hard drive POIs are already stale and the cost to update the less than frequently available database/maps is not inexpensive. In order to have up to date POIs, you need the Google online destination search which of course, requires a data plan. However, there are cheaper alternatives to T-Mobile so long as you don't use the data hog Google Earth overlay too often.

I bought this for wife's RX and it works great.

Mountek nGroove Universal CD Slot Mount (Black)
Amazon Amazon

Been thinking about one for my A6 as well but personal don't have the phone out much when I drive.

Spacing looks good though based on where the DVD slot is. Especially if you have a phone that supports landscape mode as well.
