Default Chirp when locked/unlocked

Hi, new A6 S-Line Black Edition owner

Quick question, Is there any way to enable a audible lock/unlock tone

(UK owner, if it makes any difference)

It is interesting that a UK owner wants a chirp. It is the only audible warning that is not insulting to the owner and is quite useful. Here in the US we have chirps and dongs and all kinds of noises to tell the driver that his lights are on, his door is open, his seat belt is not fastened etc.. I remember Jeremy Clarkson being annoyed/insulted by American manufacturers that assume that drivers are too stupid to operate a car.
To answer your question, the VAG-COM interface will enable a change to 2 chirps for unlock and one chirp for lock. Mine has one chirp for both but I do not know if the chirp on off is selectable, I'm sure that somebody with more VAG-COM knowledge than I will "chirp" in.

Yes, you can turn the chirp on/off.

I thought this was a setting in the MMI, not VAGCOM.

According to the manual it is in the MMI. Select the "Car" button, then "Systems", then "Vehicle Settings" Go to "Tone When Locking" and set to ON.

Step 1: Buy a VCDS setup from Ross-Tech: http://www.ross-tech.com/
Step 2: Visit one of several tweak sites...
a) http://www.audienthusiasts.com/VagCom.html
b) http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...C7-VCDS-Tricks
Step 3: Apply the tweak(s) of your choice.
Step 4: Enjoy!

FWIW, it appears you need this one:
Code:
Chirp the alarm siren briefly when the alarm activates (ie all doors are closed and the car is locked)
 [Select]
 [46-Central Conv.]
 [Coding - 07]
 [Long Coding Helper]
Click on byte 1 and in bit 2 you'll see the selectable option: "Anti-Theft-System: Horn Confirmation active"
 Check this option
 [Do It!]

The chirp is only possible if you have the factory alarm system.

Makes sense - are A6 models in the UK sold without the factory alarm?

How would I know if the version of mine has a factory alarm. The dealer said that it is not possible. The only way to know is to test it out.
