Clunk on startup 3.0T
#51
I finally get to schedule a visit to the dealership after living with "clunk" for a year. I complaint about the issue and have asked to undo 37J1 but was told impossible. What they did is to reflash the TCM using the same software. I have been driving the car for a week and I can still feel there's clunk.
While the car is with them, they gave me a 2015 A6 loaner with the same tranny. I tried replicating "clunk" from 1 to 2 and I can definitely feel the "clunk". At this point, I dont think there is a resolution to this and it appears that this "clunking" is acceptable per Audi.

I have recently had this issue resolved by the dealer at my last visit. Turns out my car had "uneven fuel trims" and that's what was causing the clunk/bucking at startup. Hasn't happened since I got the car back 3 weeks ago. Worth a shot guys! I meant to tell you guys about it. Now my off to the PDR guy again cause of some asshat dinging my car. My car has been assaulted since I got it. It's not fair!!!!! Lol. my PDR guy is amazing- but he loves his money!

Hi guys,
I've had my 15 3.0T for 1.5 months and loving it. Went from 2.0t to 3.0 and will never look back.
One issue though. Sometimes when I start up the car it clunks a bit as if the transmission is hooking up or something. It's a bit disconcerting because it's a noticeable jerking action.
Maybe some loose bolts and the starter is loose or the transmission??
Anyone ever experience this? The car functions normal but wondering if I need to have it looked at.
Thanks,
Mitch

Its over 3.5 years since this topic was discussed and Im experiencing the very same issue described in this thread. Transmission clunk when warm engine starts.
I have 2015 A6 3.0 8-speed tiptronic
I am wondering if this issue was ever resolved/?
Im not sure if my software was upgraded recently, but I would expect software concerns related to this issue by now (7/2019) should have been resolved.
I welcome any input.
Thanks.

I was having this startup clunk issue on my '14 A6. I have found a remedy that has been working for me, when I park the car, I stop, then put the transmission into neutral for a second or two, release the brake pedal a little and let the car settle into place, press the brake pedal again, then I put it into park. This has been been working for me to avoid the "clunk" upon startup.

Yes... :
Although I don't do this exact procedure automatically, I have noticed this over the 6.5 years I've been driving my 2013 A6 this tendency for "no clunk from neutral".

Add me to the list for the crazy rear end clunk on my 2013 A6 3.0T. I have had the car 3 weeks and I'm not happy about the clunk. The car only has 52,000 miles. I feel like mentioning it to the dealer would be a complete waste of time. Any more info on this guys? I guess I will try the "neutral" thing mentioned above in the meantime........or maybe forever!

So after having my CA's and TRE's done a few months ago, I hear a clunk going over bumps on the left
