Default Compartment under front seats?

I was cleaning the inside of the car today and noticed that under the front seats there are little compartments that can be opened. Anyone know what they were meant for?

On page 56 of the owners manual it states " storage compartment on the rear side of the front seat*. The compartment can hold a maximum weight of 1 kg."
I have not gotten my A6 yet, but on my MB CLS one side hold a first aid kit.

You found a C7 A6 owner's manual online?

Pretty sure he's talking about the storage compartment under the seats, not behind them. I've noticed them too and I assume they are just extra storage for the sake of storage. I put a lifehammer in mine.

I'f I'm not mistaken, the storage compartment described in the owners manual are indeed an option (not sure what package or what country gets them)and are for the benefit of the rear seat passengers.

There are also those weird drop down hard plastic compartments for the front seat occupants. I think every C7 A6 has them. Really oddly shaped, my Ruger LCP doesn't quite fit and the Beretta Bobcat is a tight squeeze.

What do others use it for?

Correct, I was referring to the ones under the seat. They are indeed oddly shaped and looks like nothing practical can fit in there. Might just used them for my sunglasses, because the designated "sunglass holder" can only fit glasses for smurfs.

This is mesh netting on the back of the seat back, not what the OP is referencing.

I keep a microfiber towel in mine. I think they would hold a typical bottled water, or something you wanted to keep out of sight that wouldn't fit in the glovebox. Small umbrella would also fit I think.

Those compartments are standard equipment on the C7, but was a part of the "Storage Pack" on the C6. The compartments are not there on comfort seats, only standard and sportseats.
