[QUOTE=James517;24627360]I know the industry is moving toward having a video screen that is configurable -- but I do prefer having my MPH/Tach as separate gauges. The rest of the display system can go down and you can still drive safely. I think the ones in the A6 are attractive.
QUOTE]I don't have a problem with having the MPH/Tach displayed permanently. The problem is that they take up 90% of the available space and supply you with 10% of the information available.

I was looking at the new systems with configurable soft features and if you select the tach and speedo then they still take up too much space. I want to see numerous things by moving my eye not by selecting menus with a button and if a single function like tach takes up too much room then you won't be able to use the available space for other readouts.
While I'm on the subject of displays, I hate the fact that the radio or "entertainment" display is not permanent. It's silly to have to delete your ability to see a map just to check on the artist on XM.

I never use the digital speedometer either, because there's so much other good info you can display there.
It would be so nice if our MMI allowed split screen to display two items.
