Hello,

is there a way to disable the factory alarm built into the car? (MY2012 A6)
I need to transport my car on a truck coast to coast (I'm moving), and I'm wondering if I need to worry about disabling the alarm as it could go off on the truck when it shakes.

In the B-Pillar behind the drivers door is a button to deactivate the motion sensor (it is in the manual!!)

I checked my US manual and there is nothing mentioned about this nor is there a button on the B pillar as you describe. Must be a UK thing.

Disconnect the battery.

Check the trailing edge of the door when it is open it may be there. If not then it is possible that US cars do not have motion/pressure sensor alarms fitted with only the doors, trunk and hood alarmed

Your car was transported by truck to your dealer. No alarm issues then. I can't imagine youll have any either.

This is the button on the trailing edge of the drivers door. If you don't have it then I suspect you only have perimeter and not volumetric alarm

No button on my Prestige so we can presume it doesn't exist in NA.
