Have you tried conditioning the seat with one of the higher quality leather treatments (such Meguiars)? May do a lot to restore the look and feel of the seat

Awesome suggestion...

This is what I meant when I said they would say anything to make it your fault. Total BS.

I plan on getting the official Audi treatment, but unless it is a miracle in a bottle I doubt it will do much. Then maybe I'll bring it up with them again.

Anyone know anything about the 12,000 mile thing?

Ditto. If the holes are not visible and you want them to be, get a little dental tool at the pharmacy and very, very carefully clear them.

Avoid paste saddle soaps and get the good detailing products. Audis is pretty nice by the by. The pasty products will both clog the holes and collect dust and dirt from what I've seen.

The last time I noticed anything unusual on an unused seat it was actually from putting hot pizzas on them. Avoid that. I have no idea why, perhaps the condensation, but they had to be cleaned mysteriously until I figured that out.

Other than that, I think the only difference between the seats is that one has your butt covering it. The other is sun exposed.

Ah, just remembered something else. When I had a light brown leather seat, contact with a black leather skirt left a slight stain. Like a funny dulling. Came right out with the Meguiar cleaner at the time. Can't recall the name of the product. Using Audis for the moment on black seats.

I did have new leather put in a car for under $1,200. Amazing job. Takes a specialist. To find one, look for the people who do classic car interior restoration. They'll nail it. Their typical customer is about as demanding, or more, than any Audi owner I've met.

After getting a pretty dismissive answer from Audi I guess I am left on my own. Going to contact my dealership about the cost to replace. Anyone have any guesses? Is it the whole seat out and in?

They should be able to just replace the cover, probably require them to remove the seat to do it but it will not need a whole new seat.

Can't speak for the US market but never heard of a reduced warranty on seats (or any other part) here in the UK (we get a three year/60000 mile warranty here) for the seats, however there is of course the normal "wear and tear not covered" clause and the warranty only covers defective parts or workmanship so it might be a challenge to make a claim.

So I checked on replacement price for the seat parts. Total is $1670 + installation.

I'm actually pretty tempted to do this.

Keep in mind that different dye lots are almost never a perfect match. Replacing one seat could be slightly different than the other one. Be sure to check the replacement before they install it.

Yeah I was concerned about that, along with the fact that the other seats although worn well are still older.
