Glad to be back
Hello all,
Been away from this forum since 2008 after selling my MKI TT......6 years and 7 diff cars later I am back in the Audi family
Picked up a CPO 2012 A6 prestige sport yesterday with 42k miles (a lil high than my usual choice....but there wasn't much choices on prestige sport)
played around with my VAGcom and did a few things (and a few that I shouldn't have done which is causing a light fault code lol....gotta fix that tonite)
So I understand that the 2012 doesn't have the laptime/boost gauge option, wondering what others are doing to show boost (the old fashion way maybe?)
Also have anyone got ATT 3G to work? I read that it should, but mine is still showing 2G (yes APN setting are correct: Broadband/blank /blank) I gave ATT my IMEI # just now....but it was still at 2G.......maybe needs a few power cycle....I'll see
Anyhow just happy to be back, I wonder if some of the members from back in the days are still around.

The MMI in the A6 MY2012-2015 will do 3G on the t-mobile network only, I have not seen a post where an AT&T SIM allowed 3G in the MMI. The spectrum used by AT&T for 3G is not supported by the MMI hardware. The MY2016 MMI (or the one in the new A3) will do 4G LTE on AT&T (an likely on t-mobile).
Are you saying to have an AT&T SIM in your 2013 A6 that connects at 3G speeds?

huh are you sure

from this thread it seems it ATT wasn't able to get 3G in the beginning (on a 2012 car) but then ATT upgrade their frequency on 3G and it should be able to now.... :not sure:

It sure sounds like AT&T SIMs will allow 3G speed in the MMI now. I know that t-mobile updated their towers to support older AT&T devices but I haven't read that AT&T would add bands to their service also. Assuming that AT&T didn't change anything that would leave the option that Audi updated their MMI hardware (or software in case it wasn't really a hardware limitation) to support additional bands. Not a total surprise since the MMI 4G (in the new A3) supports AT&T out of the box but at least here in the A6 forum nobody posted about a successful AT&T 3G connection in their MMI.

Yeah, but you are correct, it works fine with 2G for google maps etc. just not good for "hotspot" which is kind of pointless because you can always setup your phone to be a hotspot

Better to set up the car to be a hotspot. I was able to cut over $100 off my cell bill. Paid the $30 for the Unlimited T-Mobile, cut my cellular data down to just 200MB a month for $15. Paid $45 instead of $150 and still had coverage when I needed it.
