I build UAVs, and Google Maps API is apparently going the way of the Dodo, as DJI has dropped support for Google Maps in it's applications. I presume others will follow. Perhaps they are using a different API, as I could see no end of problems for Google if they dropped support for such a vastly used product.

It's not Google Maps, it's Google Earth overlay on top of Audi partner maps, lately INRIX.

Correct, not a Google map. However, I believe the MMI internal map data is provided by HERE (formerly known as NavTech). Inrix is the provider for the traffic data (in MY2016+; Sirius satellite provided traffic for MY2012-2015).

Is it possible everyone's subscription from Audi is starting to expire? I looked at the cost to renew and for as little long distance driving as I do, it wasn't worth the money just to get the nice google earth/map overlay.

There's another thread where I just posted an update. The current outage is a known issue. They are upgrading the services for the older vehicles at the moment. It's working on newer vehicles just fine. I just got off the phone with Audi connect support. There's no hard ETA for when the maintenance window will be done, but they are hoping it will be back to normal on Monday.

Hi Superswiss, thankyou for your post, it reassuring to know that Audi are working on this, I live in France and have the same problem. My Google maps stopped working on Saturday 14th October 2017. Initially the google word was white as far as Goog but today (17th oct) it downloaded the final letters but Google maps still doesn't work. I've attached a photo of the screen, the text says 'Please wait'.

For info I have a 2012 A7 313HP Diesel V6 Biturbo with the 3G touch MMI.
