Default Got some flate. Time for new tires.

Apparently someone went out with some blades slashing tires. Unfortunately the tires had plenty of life left but it's time to get new ones. What are the most recommended ones here? My commute is pretty short and it doesn't snow.

What temperature ranges do you experience over a year?
Are you more oriented to comfort and quiet or performance/handling?

I'm in the bay area, CA. I prefer performance as on weekends I'll go out to the hills.

From a quick look online, it seems you are on the cusp of being able to enjoy one of the performance gold standards (I did not check out size availability) with the Michelin PSS. However they should not be used below 45 degrees, as summer tires lose significant traction and the compound can crack. I see that average January temperature is listed as 47, but not sure what the lows have been, so consider that with care.

As a second choice, if you want to come close to PSS, but not worry about temperatures below 45, I'd still stay with Michelin for your preferences, but take the Pilot Sport AS+. It was developed to mimic as much of the PSS as they could achieve with a wider temperature tolerance.

Michelin owns BFGoodrich, and the gforce COMP 2A/S is their comparable version of the AS+, but has a lower price position. Reviews have been great!

Many here have had great success with Continental DWS06, and I've even put them on my wife's A6. But, her preferences lean toward ride comfort and quiet moreso than performance, so that would not align as well with your desires.

Good luck with your choice!

I just replaced all 4 Pirelli's with Conti DWS06 and am happy so far. The road noise is less and the handling is good.

I live in Bay Area too and i recommend Conti DWS06.

Btw, eBay has $50 off tires today (I got the tires installed yesterday and missed out on this). But check out eBay storefront of Tire Rack or Discount Tire. Since your tires will be more than $600 total, do two transactions and get $100 off .

DWS06 is a great option for a UHPAS tire. The Michelin PSS is a excellent choice for summer tire...an alternative if you're going summer tire is the Continental 5P.
