Highway gas mileage roll call

Highway gas mileage roll call
I'm looking at several CPOs for my wife. There's little difference in price between FWD and AWD. Living in Vegas, there is not a weather need for AWD and my wife would not appreciate nor utilize the better handling of AWD. So it comes down to the slightly better acceleration of AWD versus the advertised 15% better highway mileage of FWD. What is you experience on trips, which is 80% of the mileage we put on her car? Please list AWD or FWD and the MPG. Not interested in TDI but brag if you wish Thanks

IMO I would rather go AWD strictly for the 8-speed transmission since the price difference is small, but that being said, don't have any experience with the 2.0T or 3.0T MPG-wise.

I had a 2.0 FWD and I would say I averaged just about 30-35 mpg on highway trips.
I now have a 3.0 quattro but haven't taken it on a long trip. The few 10-15 minute highway trips I've taken are averaging b/w 25-28 mpg. I do have to admit, I drive much more, how would I say this.....aggressively with the supercharged 3.0. It's just too much fun compared to the 2.0.

AWD 2014 A6 3.0 TDI. Road trip from Phoenix to Vegas and Back, 269 miles each way. Got 37 going and 38.5 coming back. That is a very hilly drive. Leaving for LA in a couple weeks and I am eager to see what MPG it will do on flat roads.

I have been on several long distance trips. Before my tune I went to VA and back to CA averaging 28 mpg with average highway speed of about 75 mph.
After my tune plus the addition of the stage 2 tune I went to South Lake Tahoe and than to Flagstaff and finally to Nashville and back to southern CA, all with wife and trunk full of luggage, averaging about 27 mpg with an avg. highway speed of about 75 to 80 mph.

FWD. 31-34.5 mpg on the highway depending on the speed and winds. I usually set cruise control to 75 mph and can leave it there due to light traffic. No hills in Florida either. My long-term mileage display fairly closely matches the mileage calculated at the pump, and I reset it every tank now. I have logged every fill up over 2 years and 22k miles on fuelly.com which is linked in my signature.
The benefit of the FWD CVT is actually in city gas mileage. Official EPA is 25 mpg, and I feel that is about right. That 22k mile fuelly log does include some city driving, yet the entire average is still 31 mpg!

My 2013 A6 3.0T would average about 29-30 combined.
