I have a 2014 A6-great car with nary a problem in two years, but........... I'm trying to show my wife how to open the hood. She depresses the inside, under dash release and the hood opens far enough to reach the underhood release to fully open the hood. She pushes up on the under hood lever , but no joy. I try it-same result. I tried to slam the hood closed, but hood will not latch closed-still open about 1" with dash warning light in red saying hood open. Is there a simple fix? Bear in mind, I had open heart surgery three weeks ago and the nearest Audi dealer is 50 miles away. Should I call roadside assistance? Any and all input would be appreciated.

Sounds like maybe the release latch didn't release all the way which may also prevent you being able to shut the hood. The release lever can be a bit tough to pull for some folks. If you can in your condition (any surgery can make this taxing and heart surgery even more so) Try pulling the release lever inside the car full again and see if that does the trick. Also, maybe add a some light downforce to the hood while pulling the lever just in cause something is hung up due to tension.

If you have done that already with no change, I'd say it's best to flat bed the car to the dealer and let them deal with it. I wouldn't driving it there and having he hood suddenly let go and fly up.

Is there tension/resistance on the lever when you pull it? Some A8 folks had a thread about the hood release cables breaking.

There are three latches holding the hood down. You might be able to squirt some WD40 on them if they're sticking.
