I Want My MMI Updated Somehow

Latest update: now Fidelity is sending a rep out (since the dealer filed the initial claim through them) because the cost is supposed to be over $3K. Supposedly it will be resolved on Friday, making the total time in shop 4 weeks! We'll see if that holds up.

I never expected this thread to have 10 pages but ... here's the final closure for me.
I am now using 0814 version of MMI having it just updated by the dealer.
It took a bit of persistence to get it done. The service department pled ignorance and indicated 0609 was the latest version. I contacted AoA and they took some time and a few calls back to me to ask if the dealer had contacted me yet. Finally the dealer contacted me stating an AoA field rep was going to work with service rep to investigate my issue.
Took the car in, had a long discussion with the service manager and lead rep - finally told them the 'bluetooth phone' issue exists, the latest MMI supposedly addresses it to some extent and there are other benefits of the update that provide some functions I wouldn't see/know about until it was updated. I stated my bottom line is the car is in warranty, they have a valid issue to work on and the warranty will reimburse their work so I want the update to the latest version since my 2013 model year probably won't have any/many other updates.
Now done.

The sad thing is, going to 0814, unless you have a Windows phone, other than a couple of main menu graphics changes, I don't find any difference whatsoever in features or performance from 0715-2.

What are the main menu graphics changes to which you refer?
My theory is if you can get to current for free, it should be done. In my C6, they came out with navigation software updates that only could be installed if you had your MMI updated to a certain level. There's no reason to suggest that will happen here, but it potentially eliminates cost in the future should that occur.

Of course it does. Voice Command has been a feature of every Nav Plus C7 since its introduction with any MMI version. Not only online destinations but about a hundred different possible commands globally and in each module.
