Default Key Recognition

Hi,

Our 2013 A6 is giving us a key not recognized message so we have to put the key up against the key logo to start our car. It seems that even when we put the key up against the logo, it's taking longer to recognize.

The strange thing is, this problem started to occur at virtually the exact same time for both our keys. Is this a key fob battery issue? It seems a bit strange that the batteries would fail concurrently (especially because one key gets used to lock/unlock doors, trunk, etc. far more than the other).

Is there something other than fob battery issues that I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance for any input/suggestions.

Concurrent failure is strange, but it's nearly 100% its the battery, and that's the easiest fix to check.

My 2012 just went through the same thing. CR2032 battery and it's easy to replace and the key and settings come right back.
