MMI reboots and updates...
Well, time for one of my many NOOB questions already.
Yesterday, my son went to back the car up and the rearview camera showed nothing on the screen. All black but for the control indicators. And no Bluetooth device could be connected for music but the phone worked.
After rebooting the MMI it all worked.
I am a tech geek of a stripe, but having to do this begs the question how often does that happen, and if it happens again does the car need service?
I also noticed that although I have the data plan activated and it all works, plus the MMI app working on my Apple devices, I never see Google street views.
That I suspect is because my software is not current enough. Question is, on a 2012, do the software upgrades stop before that feature is available? Even if I can get it, can I do the install, or is that dealer only?
Thx in advance for the help.

Regardless of the current version, MMI upgrades are dealer only unfortunately. sw715 was the latest that people got from the dealer, newer versions are on newer cars only so far. And those upgrades really reduce the issues like MMI or camera freezing, rebooting, bad HD radio reception and more.

Thx. I did find the versioning. I noticed options for the update. If the update is not tied to a one time use, and someone gets it on USB I suppose it could be passed around. Since my camera freezes once in a while, I'll ping my dealer. And by the way, I came out of an Acura. My local Audi dealer already isn't as good.

As previously mentioned, the current C7 software can only be updated by the dealer's service dept. There is no disk or usb drive "to pass around", it's downloaded to the car directly from Audi's servers by the tech.
You have 0715-2, which is the latest available for updates. 0726 is showing up on new cars but I've not seen that it has been made available as an update nor what changes over 0715-2 it may include.
