This is starting to feel like a trashed MMI module disaster in the making.

The engineering menu is different from the hidden green menu.

I don't know if this helps, I have noticed that if you restart MMI (Menu + Car + Top Right) and then immediately after restart try to load the green menu (Menu + Car), it will load the engineering menu instead but then shows the message: "Not yet initialized" and then closes immediately.

Later when I try to use the same key combo it loads the green menu instead.

Cool. Thanks! I'll give this a try when I get home.

+++ something that's best left to the dealer to get done...they warranty or will correct at their cost, if it happens to die on their operating table.

You two need to grow a pair. No one said is risk free, but do your homework, don't take shortcuts and the risk becomes far more manageable. When I was trying to get the update done, if the CD was available i would have taken that approach rather than argue with the dealer for 6 month.

Case in point, I grafted Audi connect to my car which was far more complicated than a CD update.

And it also looks like someone has successfully done this already on one of the other forums.

Thanks for the info. I did try your suggestion when I got home. After playing with different combos for a while, it turns out, at least on the version that I have, v487, that in order to open the Engineering update menu, you have to be on the regular software update menu and then use the CAR+BACK buttons. Once I tried the buttons there, it popped up immediately.

I plan to attempt the update process again this weekend.

Thanks, again!

Hi,

Do you have a link to the forum posting that you mentioned? I'd love to use it as a reference if I need it.

Thanks

I bounce back and forth between forums. If it's not, axe it:

Posting my findings there currently.
