Hi, yeah I edited a previous post cuz I was asked that and didn't reply. Sorry about that guys.
Bought it on Ebay. I've been searching for audi parts for a while and only seen the Techtronic shifter twice over past 2 months, so I chose to risk it and make the purchase.
Typically I see a few RS3, RS4, RS7 ***** available. If you don't mind the wrong emblem those will work.
These recently became available

Bill I suspect you were talking to me despite quoting someone else's post?

Been researching a replacement car for a year now. Settled on the A6 as car of choice back in July 2014. Had head-on collision that totaled my GP last November so that expedited a more aggressive search for car. Only found 2 eligible A6 candidates with options I wanted. A Texas dealer blew me off while Maryland dealer made it happen. Had car shipped. I'm super excited! Love the car, Love that I still have blower whine!

Steve, I do multiple things per post lol.

I sold an 00 Regal with 260k rust and almost every suspension mod plus my truck getting totaled. Left me in a 540i loaner with an aggressive search as well. How is the whine, I need to add that lovely sound.

Regarding the custom intake, here's the updates so far. Still need to find a way to measure IAT tems, haven't found program. Downloaded the Torque Pro App and got Kiwi 2 bluetooth but it doesn't give me IAT as option to log. = (

With the plate alone, the blower whine was very noticeable. Once I added the permiteter seals and top foam to keep engine heat out, it dampened whine a bit.

Aluminum plate was still getting hot (heat transference from engine bay) so I added 1" thick heat shield. Alum. plate stays cool to touch now on short 1 hr drives, but blower whine decreased further.

To get some blower whine back, I pulled the rear hood seal down into engine compartment (at intake side only) to allow blower whine noise to escape.

So it's a trade off it seems. Seal off well to keep heat out, but reduce blower whine, or leave somewhat exposed to get great blower whine but some heat into the intake. Still a work in progress. = ) Least i have a hobby once more.

Just a friendly Warning, This is not an easy bolt-in mod. There are considerable risks to damaging your car so please understand you do these mods at your own risk. I've been modding cars for over 20 years so I'm used to things going wrong and dealing with consequences. Here's a few additional tips to instructions by others that helped me pull this off:

1. If you are inpatient or overdo twisting of plastic piece in shifter base, you can break this piece which I believe requires replacing entire shifter assembly. I think I read that replacing the assembly would require dropping transmission, so it's an expensive fix.
2. Make sure you put down towel or something to keep heat from melting and warping console trim and buttons. I managed to warp two buttons that are now non-functional and have to replace my MMI control panel. Still majorly worth it for me, but I'm just nuts that way.
3. Make sure you use strips of duct tape on shifter handle push buttons as pull tabs, so if the shift **** retracts on you it can easily be pulled back out with tape attached.
4. HIGHLY recommend you purchase shifter with boot included. Between a friend and myself we struggled to get the plastic piece (3 pieces) underneath booth to re install and lock. These seem to be slightly different for round shifter than T-handle but we made it work. You may not be so lucky so be warned this may test your patience. Test this piece install BEFORE you commit to twisting white plastic shift stalk. See Youtube video below for what I'm talking about. Last link references where I first learned how to do this mod. The link to ebay shifter with boot below was not what I bought, but if boot doesn't match you can replace it with yours. Important part is getting correct black plastic lock piece under boot.

I bought the one with no boot. If you're going to try this mod, good luck on whatever you decide.

I have a ScanGuage II which plugs into the OBD port and one of the parameters is IAT. Perhaps you can find a similar gauge to check the temperature.

Why Thank you! I've spent many hours looking for OBDII scan gauges and only thing I kept finding over and over was the vent gauge that I'm not fond of.

I was looking for something along the lines of an Aeroforce gauge but that doesn't work with Audi I uderstand. If ScanGaugeII works, that to me is way more appealing. I do like the style of the vent gauge just not the display. I really do appreciate the guidance.

Thank you.

Do you have pictures of the stock airbox. I'm slower than you on modding and thinking of hogging out the front.

Thanks for the giggle on consequences. 3800's were great for teaching.

Proud to start diving-in with my first custom mod. Rather than buy an expensive $400+ intake setup that I feel was an engineering disaster, I decided to build my own disaster.

Eye of the beholder right?

Still a work in progress. Seals being installed in next few weeks to truly keep heat out of air intake area. Plus secondary heat shield still to be installed to more adequately "shield" heat.

Thanks to all for the great posts which leads me closer to my dream build.

Why mess up the Audi system when it really dont need any mod's?

I will take pictures sometime this week and post. But not sure if my airbox is same as yours. If you look at my custom CAI setup you'll see the stock air duct that curves the air into the airbox area. By the way, my next revision to my CAI is in progress. Hoping to have final version with test readings soon.

Hi Bravo, I can respect your opinion but to each their own. Not saying there's anything wrong with the car, it's a great piece of engineering and beautiful model. Those that are familiar with me know I can NEVER leave well enough alone. Always looking to personalize and improve. I like to innovate and push the limits of anything I do, and I don't settle. Innovation comes from somewhere doesn't it? So I invite you to sit back, enjoy the forum and chuckle in silence at those of us who mess up our cars.

Amazingly I just ruined my car this weekend with a new rear trunk spoiler. I know, Ruined the the Barret Jackson starting price. Sorry.
You're bound to get help and advice when asked for by many friendly and helpful people on here, but maybe not if you criticize them or their ideas. Just my own opinion.
