Default Oil change in NYC

Hi - bought my used A6 just shy of 16k miles and I'm now at 19k miles. Thinking about doing an oil change just as a long term investment for the engine etc...anyone have a favorite place in NYC area for oil change? Don't think I'll go to the Manhattan Audi stealership @ $230. Was gonna go to the Meineke ($80; Mobil1 fully synthetic) or Audi Seacaucus ($140)

The maintenance schedule for the C7 A6 with the gas engine calls for the first engine oil change at 5,000 miles and then every 10,000 miles or yearly.

Do you know when the last oil change was? It may have been changed just before you bought it.

Another reason to get a dipstick. Although not fool proof, being able to visually inspect the residual oil clinging to the stick could give an idea of whether it is relatively new or totally black/thin "been there for a while" oil.
If it really is $230 for an oil change at Manhattan Audi, more reason for new A6 buyers to get AudiCare, IMO.

They should make that dipstick an option when ordering a new car. Power outlets up front would be handy too. And a owners manual CD.... don't get me started LOL

He changed it right before selling to me, but not sure what type of oil he used. Am at about 1/3 left at this point and gonna do a fair amount of summertime driving...think I'll get a dipstick or just change @ Meineke for $80 with Mobil1 synthetic to be safe.

Specification: Audi oil standard VW 502.00

Viscosity: manual says SAE 5W40 across all temperature ranges. You can also use SAE 5W30 or SAE 0W40 if SAE 5W40 is not available.

For my Audi, which is a C6, but same spec, I use Mobil 1 0w40, however live in a far more temperate climate that NY. Kevin, who do you use for your oil changes?

Lots of folks in the C6 forum have discussed this topic and the top pics tend to be: Mobil 1, Castrol Edge, Motul 8100 https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a6-...xcess-2866382/

Yeah, George, that's the wrong oil unless it's the Mobil 1 5W30 504.00 oil.

As stated, the oil needs to meet 502.00 if you are concerned about your engine warranty.

The Mobil 1 0W40 meets quite a few mfr specs. Some are very difficult to meet.
