Default Premium gas less than $3 (...now less than $2!)

I filled up at a gas station that had 93 octane for $2.959/gal. Finally below $3. Yay!

That was in Florida. How much are you paying in your area?

Also, it was $0.30/gal more than regular 87 octane. How much is the differential where you are?

Combined with the 33 mpg I got for that tank, that puts my gas cost at 8.9 cents per mile. I'm interested to see what TDI diesel A6s are getting too.

TDI here...long term memory on my trip computer is showing 34.3mpg after 19k+ miles, but actual mileage is consistently 31-32mpg per tank. Current lowest diesel price I've seen locally is $3.49.

Right around $3 here. Diesel is 3.30-3.50. Kinda regretting the tdi since premium is so cheap...yet again when I bought the TDI premium was more than diesel. Last tank was 31.2. Took to other side of town few weeks ago and roundtrip ~120 miles got 44.5 on the computer.

This AM $3.639 for 93 octane - Kingston, NY, lowest it has been in years.
87 octane was $3.339.

The U.S. is not setup for big diesel production so it will always be higher. Together with the oil, the mess, the reduced performance, the noise and the additional cost, I, for one is not convinced. Yes the diesel may win on engine logivity but I will be bored with my car even before my gas car claps out.

What do you mean "together with the oil.."?

I keep latex gloves in the compartment below the seat. No mess when filling up.

And you are aware that C&D tested the the TDI as having a faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile time than the 3.0T?

I'm glad you think you got the right vehicle for you. I'm convinced I got the right car for me.

Let's not get into that old gas vs diesel engine debate again, ok? We've been there, done that.
