Yeah I read something similar before about PA gas tax. The tax thing and "market price" doesn't make much sense for me. I was in Ohio a few weeks ago and noticed their gas price was a bit higher than pittsburgh's. I also went through buffalo NY while going up to Toronto and the gas price was a bit higher than PA which has gas tax higher than both.

Similarly the gas tax in Seoul, Korea is about 45% but their prices are nearly 3 times US prices. People will argue that Korea doesn't have oil of their own so the prices should be high. But one of the top 3 exports are refined oil. They import cheap crude from the Middle East and Africa and export it at market prices.

I understand that some area adjust for cost of living. But the GNP of Korea is much less than the US. So my mistrust in the government or companies blaming taxes or cost of living doesn't make sense to me. Always the oil prices follow the "rockets and feather" pattern. Why can't it be rockets and rockets or feathers and feather?

$2.259 for 93 octane in Florida. 87 octane was $1.959 at that station. My new record low. Just in time for Thanksgiving travels.

At 32 mpg my cost of gas per mile is now around 6.9c/mi.

It's impressive for sure. $1.659 for 87 (the 9/10¢ is a scam) at several stations here in central Indiana. Unfortunately 93 is staying up there at $2.059. Oil prices are rising this morning because Turkey shot down a Russian jet over their airspace (they were only in the airspace for a few seconds).

I finally got below $2 with $1.979 for 93 octane in Florida, but I know some other states have gone even lower! I also got a pretty amazing 35.1 mpg on that tank with mostly highway driving, which brings my cost per mile to 5.6c!

It's still hovering around $2.15 for premium here in MA. I expect prices to rise very soon though.

Since I'm a Giant shopper, I'm usually racking up at least $1.50 off premium at Shell by the time of my next fill up.

How so? Do you pay more federal gas tax than others?

I thought the gas taxes differ at the state level. PA (Costco @ 91 Octane) was at $1.91 last week, but, back up to $2.21. Still happy!

They do, and CA has different blends because of its regulations, which makes it more expensive. State gas tax goes to state use (hopefully construction).

There's still a 40¢ 87 - 93 differential in Indiana (89 is mid-grade) out of BP Whiting, which is irritating. Still Premium is $1.959 though.
