Pressing the engine start/stop button while driving
Hi,
me and my friend were having a conversation about my 2012 A6, and he asked me what happens when I press the engine start/stop button while driving.
I hadn't thought of that scenario up until he mentioned it, and now I'm curious as well.
I'm too chicken to try it myself, so I was wondering if anyone knows.
I would imagine there's some sort of a safety trigger, so pressing the button won't have any effect till the gear is set to "park", however this is just my thought.

I am looking at buying my first Audi and thought of this during my test drive because the start/stop button is on the console and not the dash.
I put the car in great and pressed the button and the motor stopped!
You could go to a big empty parking lot and test it out. Drive about 15 - 25 mph and hit the button and see what happens. I think the motor will die but the steering should not lock, hopefully. You will lose power steering.
If you decide to test it out let us know how it goes.
