So I'm looking at a 2014 A6 prestige. In the attached, picture, in the grill, you can see what I'm nearly positive is part of the frame. But on this car, looked like it had a decent amount of rock chips. It stuck out because everything on the front of the car is black but then that one part of the frame had white nicks in it. Carmax said theyd paint it. Is this a common issue for the a6 with this type of grill?

Actually, I found this picture of apparently the same car, 2014 with black optic package and it looks like that area is different on this car, and my car is bare. Is there a piece missing?

This car you're looking at has something called an RS6 aftermarket grill modification. It's a common mod people do to their A6.

The thing you're looking at with all the chips is called a Crash Bar and is normally silver. Whoever owned it before painted it black to make it blend better with the RS6 grill.

I have the same chips on my painted crash bar so I would say it's common for this mod.

I see..thanks for that. So on a normal grill that rectangle piece I assume just covers the crash bar
