Smallest wheels for my A6?
I'm considering winter wheels and tires for my 2016 A6 (listed in my sig). The rotors appear to be 14" in the front, which would be the limiting facotr. The calipers look like they're pretty close to the inside on the 18" wheels. I was wondering if anyone has fit 17" wheels onto same...

Open your Owner's Manual and they'll list the alternate fitments in the tire inflation section of the book. Or, go to Tire Rack and see if they have a minus size option for your car.

I decided to go with 18" Verde Saga wheels:
Verde Saga Hyper Silver
I went with the Michelin X-Ice Xi3 225/50R18]
I decided on the 18" wheels, because the -1 philosophy says to use a thinner tire. The -1 Altimax tires had the same width and and only a lightly higher cross section as the X-Ice at 50. I also wanted wheels that I could fit with performance tires that were a bit more flashy than what the car came with.

Folks be very careful with tire rack ordering wheels for your 2016 C7 A6 if you have a 2.0t. And maybe other years too. Apparantly tire rack has fitment data that did not consider the bigger brake calipers on the front wheels.
I had to order 3 times from them for my 2016 A6 2.0t as they kept sending me wheels that did not fit on the front. Their fitment information is WRONG. I had to argue with them repeatedly as they kept saying the brake calipers on my front wheels must have been installed after market, as a set of 17 inch wheels where there was only a paper thin clearance between the wheel and front calipers that made me very nervous...and then 18 inch wheels I ordered would not fit at all.
After a lot of pushback from Tire Rack and me giving them evidence they finally went to an Audi dealer and looked at the brakes on the front of 2016 A6 2.0t and admitted I was right and they were wrong. They said they were going to update their configurator.
If you want to order wheels for your A6 2.0t from tire rack be sure and ask about this. They recommended to me to put in 3.0t because the brakes on the 3.0t are the bigger ones that are also on the front brakes on my 2016 A6. I don't know when they will reflect the right fitment data but they told me they were going to update it.
I checked with Audi dealer and they recommended you do not go down to 17 inch wheels. But that may just be because it's hard to find 17's that will fit over the front brake calipers.

Well, the 18" wheels and tires arrived today, and they will be installed on Saturday, barring any fitment issues. Clearly I should start the install with the fronts.

Yes unpack one tire and check that it fits on the front before you unpack the others. The ones I finally got after all of the runaround with Tire Rack, the third time was the charm my 18 inch wheels fit just fine with plenty of room around the calipers in the front.
