My steering wheel started squeaking as I turn it at low or high speed. Anyone have a clever suggestion before I take it to the dealer?

This is a fairly common problem and the dealer will lube the area that is squeaking. I don't think its an easy DIY job.

Thanks that's what I figured, just a 2 hour round trip to dealer. I assume it is nothing that needs urgent attention. I don't feel any difference in the steering itself, just a relatively quiet high pitched squeak.

mine clicks only when you turn to the left, strange.

Any clicking or screeching noise coming from steering wheel or steering column may also be traced back to a bad clock spring. Can also be accompanied by an intermittent air bag warning light and/or intermittent steering wheel control button problems.
