Default Takata airbag recall - not Audi

In case anyone is wondering if Audi will be affected by the announcement today of the recall of 34M airbags, Audi is not one of the auto manufacturers affected.

"Takata is not the airbag supplier" (for Audi), according to Brad Stertz, an Audi of America spokesman.

Thanks Snag. I was wondering about that. I have been meaning to look up the affected manufacturers as I have a Nissan as well I worry about.

Yea, my wife's A3 has the Takata airbag in it and she received notice a month ago. However, it's also part of the great TDI debacle, so who knows whats going to happen and if they will bother to fix the airbag before they figure out what the hell they are going to do with the rest of the car.

According to the article, it looks like we A6 owners have dodged this bullet. For now.
Many of us still have the airbag passenger seat sensor recall to deal with though.

The service department orders the repair parts using your VIN. They must send them back if not installed within 30 days.

Audi's affected:

• 2006–2013 A3
• 2006–2009 A4 cabriolet
• 2009–2012 Q5
• 2010–2011 A5 cabriolet

It applies for all iterations like S4, etc. for these specific models

Audi has no solution as there are 8 million cars involved and no solution in the pipeline, it appears Takata will go bankrupt and go away...

Confused. This thread started with informing us Audi was not affected by Takata airbag recalls but you now post they are. Please post your source.

Thank you.

Thank you.
I started this thread almost one year ago when the Takata news broke. At that time, Audi announced it didn't use their air bags and was not one of the brands announced (see quote in OP). Now, it appears that the scope of cars affected was expanded (echos of dieselgate). Since you would think that at that time both companies would have known they sourced their air bags, one can guess that Takata and Audi were perpetrating yet another attempt of a cover up. Sad.
As a result, I'm not convinced the C7 is unaffected and we mayyet hear ours use Takata as well.
