I had an odd issue with my trunk latching electronics recently. After trying to release the trunk using the handle which for some reason would not open, I used the key to release the trunk. This opened the trunk, but when trying to close it, it kept popping open and beeping as if the trunk release key switch was stuck. (It wasn't.) I tried moving, thinking my foot was perhaps located in the area of the under-bumper release, but this did not help. I tried closing it 6-8 times and nothing worked. I finally got it to latch by getting in the car and starting the engine, then shutting down.

This happened a few times since - the last time at the most inopportune time as I was rushing to leave on a business trip.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Was the fob in your pocket? Try leaving the fob further away from your car in case it thinks that the fob is in the trunk.

Yes, the FOB is always in my pocket, including when I started the car to finally close it. Maybe I'll try this if it happens again.

Has happened to me a few times and my car doesn't have bumper release, so we can rule that out as the cause. I also always have the key in my pocket.
Last time it happened I got my cell out to try to record a video of it happening to show to the dealer but then it started working...
