Default Turning the radio off

Hi,

My radio always comes on when I turn the ignition on. This happens always. If I turn the radio off before I turn the ignition off, the radio will come on when I turn the engine on. Even if the radio has never been on it comes on.

Any ideas how to stop this ?

Thanks,

J

Are you sure it has been turned off and not just muted? A quick push of the **** on the console mutes it, you have to push and hold it down several seconds to completely turn it off. If you are not sure, check the manual.

This a feature annoying to many on this forum. Search MMI threads to get answers.

Thanks. Holding the button down turns the MMI off.

The sales rep. says nothing can be done about it. My 2012 A4 with B&O did not and my 2106 A6 with Bose does too. My buddy with a 2012 A4 Premium says his does not.
Worse is mine goes directly to Howard Stern and my wife makes a sour face!

Apparently changing the minimum volume to 0 will fix it:

Or, if you don't have access to the hidden green menu, I just put in a blank SD card and set that as the source. I use the jukebox for music anyway.

I tried what I suggested earlier in this thread to be sure. Hold the **** down continuously and it shuts off and does not come back on when I restart the car.

I used this method to set the hidden menu so that my audio is always muted at startup. Sometimes I listen to music loud on the morning commute, and I don't want to accidentally blast my clients or associates later in the day...

Did you try the link above? If I recall correctly, the only part that was a little tricky is after you've changed the settings, I believe you have to back out via the BACK button to get it to stick (vs just shutting off the car).
