Where are you in the bay area? I suppose you could use mine if you have the software on your laptop and if you want to use it in the parking lot of my company down in San Jose during the week.
I really only know how to reset the service indicator and prime the TDI pump when I changed the fuel filter. Haven't had the desire or time to learn anything else about it. So I'd be useless for any other changes. I have the USB model, btw.
But honestly, its really only like $300 or so bucks and then you can do whatever.

Head down to Precision Motorworks in Santa Clara; they can help you out - for a nominal fee. Call and just mention what you want to be done, etc. I am planning on upgrading my cable (I have it for my GTI) and I am quite versed with the software - it's not too difficult to be honest.
