It's visible in VCDS when you open the instrument cluster. I'm not aware of anyone narrowing down the specific controller versions which do and do not work, but here's my '14 for information:

Code:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 17: Instruments (J285) Labels: 4H0-920-xxx-17.clb
   Part No SW: 4G0 920 982 A HW: 4G0 920 982 A
   Component: TBenUsaAccNv H58 0622

I will go check and post shortly. Lets see. Would be cool to list for which Instrument Cluster version it does work and which not, since its probably the most sought after feature.
