I don't believe there ever was a 712 MMI update for North America 2012-2015 C7s. I recall 0487, 0566, 0609, 0715-2 and 0814. MY2016 with the new MMI uses a completely different, incompatible MMI version. ROW uses different MMI software as well. If you try to upload an incompatible MMI version, it will likely toast the 5F module.

I have MMI version 467 and the dealer wants close to $600 to upgrade. Naturally, I'm looking for any means to upgrade at a lower cost. I haven't had any problems with ole 467 but I know that the newer revisions do things better, faster, more, etc..

It looks like the ECS disc updates the navigation if you have version K_0715.

As reported by other owners (and my own experience), if you tell the dealer your wife's Windows phone is having connection issues and you understand that the MMI 0814 update corrects the problem. That's how a dealer can do it at no charge under warranty and be reimbursed by AoA for the update. That way you get the latest update and don't have to worry about something going wrong if you try to do it yourself. Which could result in a nasty, expensive surprise to fix.

I would be hesitant to try this myself until others have successfully tried it. It seems way too inexpensive since dealers pay 5 times the cost shown for the official disc. FWIW, dealer installed map updates usually run no more than $400 (mostly for labor); $600 is way too high.

Despite making a personal appearance at my local Audi Service center with the VIN of the car we were interested in purchasing and being assured that the warranty and Audi Care were good until March 2016, we were informed at the 35K service in December 2015, the warranty ran out in September 2015. We went to AOA to plead our case and then went to VWOA. We were turned down although our Audi Care is now good until Sept 2016.

It turns out that the car was put into service months before it was sold to what CarFax said was the original owner.

Yes, but not consistently. For me, it almost always shows the album art for the first song played, but then for subsequent songs it usually (but not always) does not show it. Seems like a bug that should be fixable.

So what does an upgrade to K0814 actually offer? I watched the video and cannot see a difference in what I have. I have P0726 on my 2014 car and am curious if it's worth the time to hassle the dealer into updating under TSB warranty.

0814 resolves some bugs (as always with an update) and rearranges some of the MMI display screens. There also appears to be a new option to use the Audi connect sim to make calls vs your phone though I haven't tried it.
