I own a 2012 prestige and just had the windshield replaced, safelite mentioned the heads up might need recalibrated, I have a vag cable has anyone been thru this procedure?

Should have mentioned that the numbers in the headsup now look like 3d in a bad way.

From what I have read and Understand - the windshield glass for the HUD is special and Needs to be the specific one for the display to work properly. My advice is to get ONLY OEM Factory Glass for your year Audi with a HUD. Probably have the dealer handle all aspects of it as well.

had it done before by safelite, no problems but they do have a recalibration procedure.

I believe the HUD windshield is thicker around the HUD area to avoid ghost image.

You may have gotten the wrong windshield. I had the same issue last year. It took 3 replacements to get the correct one for my 2012 Prestige with HUD. I also had HUD ghosting with the first two windshields. The service manual says that calibration should be done after replacement. I'm not sure if you can do it yourself with the VAG cable.
