I have an 03 A6 3.0L Quattro. Only 67,000 miles. While driving the car, the door ajar symbol pops up on the dash, along with the annoying 'beeping' sound. I have to open and close the door, sometimes multiple times before it goes away, and sometimes it comes back. When shut off and locked, the alarm lights will also randomly start blinking (no sound) and then shut off after a couple mins or so. I've checked for water leaks from the sunroof, and on the floor, with no water to be found after rain. Not sure if this is a ground wire issue or something similar? Not sure if related, but sometimes when I try to start the car, it will crank but not turn over, and smells like the engine is flooded with gas. I have to wait a couple mins and then it will start. The idle will sometimes rev too high and then die in gear (D). Any thoughts? Thanks

VAG-COM is your friend. Start by using measuring blocks to check door latch switch operation.

To the OP, +1 on what 4Driver4 said. Need codes to see what's going on. Otherwise, it is quite difficult to point you in right direction.
