04 a6 2.7t tip tranny still slips after installing new tc
Hey i got a 2004 Audi a6 2.7t s-line with a 5spd trip tranny. I got a code for the tc clutch open or stuck and a incorrect gear ratio code for 4th and 5th gear. I have gotten the tc replaced to a upgraded one today from my mechanic and put in new oil/filter. But codes remain. The car also shifts into 4th but then after a few blocks it automatic shifts into 5th gear even in tip mode and redlines without any power then goes right into limp mode. Me or my mechanics cant figure out why this happens.

17114/P0730/001840 - Gear Ratio Monitoring: Incorrect Gear Ratio
Possible Symptoms
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) ON
Possible Causes
Transmission Fluid contaminated
Transmission faulty (Mechanical Problem)
Possible Solutions
Check Transmission Fluid (Color and Contamination)
Replace Transmission Fluid when necessary
Check Transmission Mechanics
Special Notes
Transmission Damage may be caused by Engine Problems, make sure there are no other/relevant Fault Codes stored in Engine Control Module.
When found in 6-Speed Automatic Transmission (01J/Multitronic):
Instructions on how to check the Transmission Fluid as well as Details on a special Test Kit can be found in TPI 2016661. TPI 2006088 may also be relevant.
A conversion from 6 to 7 Clutch Plates may be possible. See TPI 2004856 for Details

I dont have the car now but i know its either po740 or po741 tc clutch stuck off or open circuit. Also had codes for incorrect gear ratio but dont rember the codes for that. The car now has no power feels like crawling and the car slams into reverse and takes a while to go back and also slams into drive and into 4th/5th gear harsh. When in 5th it over revs then goes back into 4th then quickly into limp mode.

Po1857 - load signal: message from ECU
Po734 - gear 4 incorrect ratio
Po730 - incorrect gear ratio
Po741 - torque converter clutch circuit performance or stuck off

Hint: Did you clear them before or after the repair

I would clear the codes and see if they come back if you haven't already, as JCMan said.
I would also double check the fluid level, following the procedure outlined in the tech section.

Your mechanic should be cracking the books or rechecking his work and that would also include what others have mentioned on the fluid level, I suspect that the first dtc is a result of a loose connection during the tc r&r.

do you guys think it could be a dead solenoid? becuase once i go into 4th or 5th. there is no power transfering from the engine to the transmission at all.it just over revs and the car wouldnt build up speed like if it where in neutral. and if i shift it back into 3rd gear before it goes into limp mode it catches and drives normal again.
