2.7T - Secondary Air Injection Pump question
I'm still working on resolving my two error codes:
P1423 and P1411.
My research on this forum is leading me to check the secondary air pump. Since I don't have the Bentley... can someone tell me if I am looking at the right part in the 2.7T engine (#1 in the picture)? Also.. what is #2 in the picture anyway?
If this pump needs to be replaced (and I know it's expensive), it looks pretty straight forward to get to, remove, and replace. Is there anything that I would need to look out for those of you who've done this job?

see the corrugated plastic in your pic?
each end of that goes into its own valve, those are the SAI valves..

that's the pump, you'll have to take y-pipe off & be careful of the vacuum tubes
around the pump, I seperate the pump from the bracked, it's not necessary, but makes it easier as to not break any vacuum tubes nearby. You can jump power right to the pump to see if it runs. What I usually see is the t-fitting breaking on the vacuum supply to the combi-valves. It's buried under the black plastic intake pipe.

When I jump power directly to the pump... do I need
to be careful which way is positive and which way is negative? and btw... which is the positive contact? There's a solid (orange) and one that is stripped (red & yellow).

Is the motor suppose to blow....

I jumped power and the motor works. Air flow is very strong! The air flow is towards the direction of the combination valves. Is this correct?
Also... is there a way to test if the amount of air flow is adequate/sufficient.
Next... how do I test the combination valves?
And I keeping reading about this solenoid thing... where the heck is it? What does it look like and where am I suppose to look in the engine for it?

Sounds like the pump is good..
Check to make sure that each valve can hold a vaccuum to make sure the diaphragms are still in tact
Make sure the plastic corrugated hose has no cracks/holes and double check the vac lines.
Someone should be able to help find where the solenoid is located, you should check the vac lines there too.
