I have a 2003 Audi A6 AVK engine. Thank you
The multifunction range sensor 'F125' is part of the TCM 'J217', so if your replacing it you are replacing the whole TCM unit that is attached/bolted to the trans, do keep in mind that there is a 20pin round connector and 25pin rectangle connector type.

Does this PDF look familiar with the part?

Also to add the TCM is bolted to the back of the trans housing.

Hello and thank you so much for your help. Yes, that is what I have in my transmission. Do you happen to know where I can get the write up about how to change this part.

The best info I can provide is in the PDF.
In my opinion if you did not see a P1790, P1791 or P1792 code in vagcom or VCDS there is nothing wrong with the TRS.

Well, I got no codes before but I ran TCM codes and I got the following,
P1790 range sensor implausible signal
17137 shift solenoid N88 circuit failure resistance too high.
