Default 2006 Audi A6 Bluetooth Module Replacement DIY

Hi Everyone,

So I posted a few weeks ago about my bluetooth module possibly needing replaced. I am thinking about getting a VCDS to diagnose it on my own, and if necessary, replace it on my own since the dealer is going to charge an arm and a leg.

For those that are just now reading, it's locking in Mute and I have to reset the MMI with the three soft touch buttons to get the radio to play. It's hit or miss, but I'm afraid the module is going out. I'm thinking about upgrading the software first though to see if that works. It's on version 11 something or other. Very old version...maybe a newer update will help?

I have done some research, found a good DIY, but I do have a few questions.

1. Will I need to recode the new bluetooth module? How does this work?
2. I know the VCDS will shoot a code out for me - is there a guide somewhere that will tell me what the code means (Ie: a simple reprogram vs. faulty module). Will VCDS recode a new module for me? How does this work?
3. Where can I get a good priced VCDS, and does it require any computer software?

Thanks for your help!

Matt

Wrong forum... you want the A6 C6 forum...

You might also post on the VCDS forum...

Wrong Forum. I have a 2005 A8 and the software upgrade made everything run smoother. You can download and burn the discs yourself if your PC skills are good. Burning the discs is the hard part. Upgrade is easy but time consuming.
