Default 6-Speed Manual Swapped 2002 Audi S6 Avant

looks like a fun car.

from the article:
This 2002 Audi S6 Avant was only offered in the USA with an automatic, but the seller has swapped in a 6-speed manual, likely from an S4.

14 pictures and full article

Not for $15K it isn't.
More likely a 2.7T trans as well as rear diff (stock 4.2 rear wrong ratio).
These swaps are all over the place…they're less expensive than replacing the ZF 5speed auto but then you have engine ECU remapping to do, etc.
$10-12K for one with under 100K miles is more reasonable.

Just got mine back and I don't think I could be much happier. Differential ratio was the same btw, no swap needed. I did do a custom driveshaft rather than use the spacer, just wasn't comfortable with it. With an unmodded 4.2 and not driving like a teenager I think I'll be alright without the V8 tranny, time will tell I suppose.

Default Az Parts

Got the parts from Audis4Parts in Tuscon and had Bluewater performance do the install here in Denver. Both did a good job. A few issues along the way but everything worked out.

I elected to have my driveshaft length modified rather than use the spacer so it cost me about $600 more than the estimated $3,800,which was a couple hundred below the rebuild cost for the tip...makes for a fun car to drive for sure.

I guess I could have swapped a six speed but I was worried about emissions/driveability in an emissions inspection state (MD) as well as getting it to AZ. That would have cost more plus the flight to pick up the car.

Yes it was. I bought the kit from Audis4parts in Tuscon and had Bluewater Performance here in Denver do the install.
