A6 2.7T subframe lowering
Hi everyone, i have a bentley manual but it is very vague as u probably all know, i am replacing my engine as it has a 5-6 inch crack down the inside of cylinder 1, the new engine is on the way. my question is i have the top 6 bolts removed from transmission-short block. i can see at least 2-4 bolts on the bottom of tranny-short block, how do i lower the subframe enough to get at those bolts as i cannot with the way it is. do i have to remove the tires, drive axles, disconnect control arms? or is there an easier way to get at them. im on a short time frame to get this job done. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind that the subframe supports the engine and transmission, so proceed with care. Support the engine from above, then see if you can loosen the two rear subframe bolts the remove the front bolts. The should allow the front of the subframe to swing down low enough for clearance.
