Here is what my plastic H2O pipe looked like at 92K (sorry for the bad pic).

Purchased one of Jim's replacement parts. Fit perfectly.

I am habing timing belt service soon. Is this an appropriate time to correct this oil cooler pipe or is it a completely different effort. If it is separate should it be done when you notice failure or done ahead of time? any opinions? thanks!

Man, I wish I had this insight about 8 months ago... I could have saved big $$$.

Back then I had my T-belt procedure performed, and the oil cooler pipe started leaking on me about 2 weeks later. Apparently the pressurization performed after replacing the coolant was just enough to push those brittle little pieces in the oil cooler pipe over the edge. It's a fairly common issue with the 4.2 V8's (I came too learn a bit too late).

Long story short; I ended up having to pay another $800 to have this fixed just a few mere weeks after they had the whole front end out for the timing belt.

Therefore, if I were you, I'd just replace it during the T-belt procedure as a safety precaution.
