Break Pad Life 4.2 Survey

4.2 28k, ground rotors at 21k, now a little vibration...
likely needs new rotors this time. Pads unchanged.
S6 10k, some vibration at high speed, either needs to be ground or replaced...dammit I just did the 10k service!!!

Nah, squealing is easily taken care of...
usually just a few hard stops from 50-60 mph or so will cure the squeals...removes the "glaze" that is causing the squealing...has worked for me twice on the 4.2...and a couple times on my GS-R.

So far it's a success...
Make sure you heat the pads good and hot and let them cool by driving without using the brakes for several minutes so the pads can cool quickly.
Coming to a stop on super hot pads can potentially warp your rotors if the heat takes a set.
I've done this procedure on two of my Audis after I switched to Mintex Redbox pads.
The pads were squealing loudly at low speed until I cooked them real good. They have been fine ever since.
