A6 tranny problem
#11
What's up world? I have an a6 Quattro and my forward gears seem to be sluggish. Reverse works great and it does drive but takes forever to get up to speed! Could this be a clogged tranny filter or a shot tranny? Checked the fluid and it was a dark brown or blackish color! Any info would be great!
There are 100 things that can cause limp mode which is what you are experiencing. (likely) You need to pull the codes before flushing or anything else.
Although it is a good idea to make sure your tranny computer (under the passengers carpet) isn't soaked. If it is that is likely the issue.

Where's the best place online to get the right scanner? Not just any scanner will work right?

Well VAGCOM by ross tech is the best. Alot of high end scanners will work also but not as well really. Cheap OBDII scanners will only do engine codes and that is all.

PaulW, how close is the A8 tranny fluid/filter change to that of a 97 A6? Should I use your process?
