Tranny fluid turns brown pretty quick in these since it starts yellow.

There are 100 things that can cause limp mode which is what you are experiencing. (likely) You need to pull the codes before flushing or anything else.

Although it is a good idea to make sure your tranny computer (under the passengers carpet) isn't soaked. If it is that is likely the issue.

Where's the best place online to get the right scanner? Not just any scanner will work right?

Well VAGCOM by ross tech is the best. Alot of high end scanners will work also but not as well really. Cheap OBDII scanners will only do engine codes and that is all.
