Default Anyone Familiar with XTool VAG401? (Handheld VCDS Device)

I received the VAG401 yesterday, and couldn't locate the following,
- I/M Readiness
- O2 Sensor Monitor Test
- Drive Cycle Count
(I have to get an Inspection done soon)

Several Audi forum threads seem to praise this scan tool, but after playing around a bit, I was unable to find certain features. I'm currently unable to update the tool, because its web portal, xtooltech.com is inaccessible. Google shows a cached page from April 16th, 2015. I suppose the site goes on and off.

Would greatly appreciate some feedback. Thanks

My Vehicle:

2004 Audi A6 C5 3.0L Avant Quattro
143,200 Miles

Nope, most people here use VCDS or VCDS-Lite. The Lite version is crippled, but free, and can use the generic OBDII cable on ebay. The full version is fairly expensive, but can do anything, and has great Ross-Tech support included.

Thanks, the tool is relatively similar; some call it the handheld version of VCDS, since VCDS requires you to couple with a PC. The tool sells for $60 or so, and receives updates quite frequently. Not promoting this product by any means, but for anyone owning a Audi / Volkswagen and is on a budget for diagnostic equipment, this tool is a must. The number of parameters are more less in the same range as those found on VCDS. The only aspect that separates the two is the ability to graph.

For $60 what do you think you're going to get aside from software updates?
Their tech support will not include or cover VAG procedures just product support from China.....Good Luck with that!

Go to Ross Tech's site and spend some time researching the "Real Deal" and the cost has a very substantial reason for it, to really know what you're venturing into using also the Bentley/Ebahn manual includes VAG procedures that correspond to the VW/Audi factory diagnostic system along with Vag-Com/VCDS.

If you really want to know the VAG diagnostic do's and don'ts check out the Vag-Com forum section right here in AudiWorld.

You're welcome.

By all means I'm not knocking the tool and maybe you might find it's all it adverts, I can be open minded to that.

I love VCDS, but i have vag401 as well. It has some features that vcds doesn't not have, i.e. mileage change
