Default anyone notice bass cut at high volume? NON BOSE

if I turn the volume past 18 on the symphony 2, it seems that the bass cuts out when a song gets heavy on the low end. Is this fix as simple as replacing the speakers or head unit? thanks for any insight!

The vast majority of power in any music is in the lowest frequencies. Combine that with the fact that low frequencies require the most air to be moved, and oyu have a recipe for roll-off of bass relative to highs at elevated levels. Its also why woofers are big. (keeping it simple here folks).

I would also not be surprised if at some point you are clipping the highest amplitudes, which, i'll wager, are dominated by low frequencies. Whether its abrupt or gradual, this is no great surprise.

Remember that perceived volume increases linearly with the square of power, so a 2 x volume increase (in dB) requries 10x more power.

Fixing it is a fool's errand, or at least expensive.

thanks, that clears things up. so my next step would be finding mid-bass speakers with higher decibel rating and lower frequency response? (and probably a higher RMS?)

Or a separate sub woofer cab with a power amp for the "power hungry" low end frequencies.

Default probably the best answer is the woof with amp

So many reasons this will work best.

Not the cheapest, btu likely the least fraught with issues too.
