Default Audi A6 Service interval Questions.

Hello,

I have some questions regarding the audi A6. I'm doing an exercise for my college. And I'm learning to be a car mechanic. One of my exercises is that I'll have to make a forum post on a technical website and I thought this was one of the best. The exercise is about diagnose devices like the snap-on modis. The question is a 2 part question basicly.

1 How do i reset the service interval on an Audi A6?
- With the diagnostic device?
- And manually withouth any special equipment?

Thanks for your efforts,

Maarten Veldhuizen

Ps. Don't blame me for not searching the forum. I had to make a forum post for the exercise:P.

Yes, it can be done with and without a diagnostic device. A VAG COM cable with applicable software is the easiest method. Here are the steps to reset the service reminder indicator (SRI) without using VAG Tool:

  • Switch ignition off.
  • Press and hold down reset button for trip odometer in instrument cluster.
  • Switch ignition on while button is pressed down. "Service OIL" appears in the display of the trip odometer.
  • Release button.
  • Pull setting **** for time in instrument cluster until "Service OIL" indication is reset. "- - -" appears in display.

  • Press reset button for trip odometer again, to advance to next service event.
  • Release button. "Service INSP" appears in display.
  • Pull setting **** for time until "Service INSP" indication is reset. "- - -" appears in display.
  • Switch ignition off.

Is there a method like this for a 2006 A6?

Awesome, I needed this! I've always wondered how the heck people learn these things. Is there an "Audi Hacks" list somewhere? This is the kind of stuff not in user manuals or even Bentley (not that I've found anyway), so where/how do you figure it out?

have you tried this on your 2006?
Have you even read your owner's manual?

Uhh not sure if you're questions are directed towards me or Calberto, but I'll go ahead and answer anyway.

I don't own a 2006, and no I haven't tried it yet on my 2001.

I refer to my owner's manual quite often, and there's very little advanced DIY info in it, so I assumed this procedure isn't there either. I'll take a look, and if it's in there, my apologies for the erroneous assumption.

This would probably be better answered on the C6 board.

Thanks. ISATI, apparently, since I only use the threaded view and am not interested in setting up my responses so they can be viewed correctly in other views...if they can at all.
