Default Bellypan from 2002 A6 2.7l fit a 1999 A6 2.8l?

I just looked down yesterday and saw 200,000 miles role by on my '99 A6 quattro. I had the timing belt service done recently (189,000 miles) and unfortunately the bellypan wasn't reinstalled properly because I hit a pothole a few weeks back and the entire thing fell and started dragging the ground! I got out and pinned it back up under the front bumper and limped into my mechanics. He said I was missing the two pins that bolt on under the fender well and also that it was broke in a couple of other spots. I had noticed my gas mieage go from 22-23 mpg to 17-20 mpg and after some searching learned the bellypan contributes to gas mileage (I guess thru aerodynamics). I have found a replacement online for like $3-400, which is more than I want to invest. I found a 2002 A6 2.7lw quatrro being parted out and I want to know if the belly pan would be a replacement for my 1999 A6 2.8l quattro? I know the engines are completely different, but do you know if the bellypans would be the same?

Get the p/n for the two bellypans on the two cars…that will tell you if they're interchangeable.

As for cost, google the p/n of the one for your car and go from there. Shokan.com may also have a good used pan for less than ½ new cost.

I can tell you that they look the same but I never tried to switch them.

Take the broken one with you to the parting car and compare them on the spot. Done

EDIT: let me guess: 'the mechanics' threw it out
