Default brake servo (booster) - is it worth to get a used one?

My brake servo is apparently broken and I need to get a replacement. My mechanic told me I should get a new one and not bother with a used one. Is he right? I could do with saving a bit of money but then again I don't want to have to change it again in years time either.

Depends on the difference between the cost of a used one and the cost of a new one. If you are having a mechanic do the work, and the cost difference is not too much, then I would suggest a new one.

Well the price difference is about €200, so cost wise is worth it. But the real question is are these things likely to break after 13-15 years, or are they normally pretty durable and my one was just a dodgy one? Because if there is a good chance that second hand will break within next 2-3 years then there is no point to get it...
