Default Breather hose purchase-opinions needed

Hey Everyone!

I have been lurking through these forums since I purchased my 2000 Audi A6 avant. It has been a huge source of great info and hopefully I can start contributing more in the future.

I have cracked the breather hose running to over the front/top of my motor and was looking at options to replace it. Here are the two sources that I have been looking to compare.....

Blau Parts (I have been really happy with their service so far)-

http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=GC26180-B

Ebay special-

http://www.ebay.com/itm/271232792173#shpCntId

Does anyone have any input on either kits? I am trying to understand the $150 price difference between the two. I understand the quality will be less in the ebay kit, but with the price difference, I could buy 4 hoses and still come out ahead.

Thanks in advance!

I would just get the ebay one and try it out. They are just plastic tubes. Sure they might be less quality, but they are only handled and broken when the engines getting a rather large repair. If you have taken care of your oil leaks it shouldnt need to come off for a long long time.

I am leaning towards the eBay option as well. If it was a critical part, I would stick to the quality stuff. I will let you know how the quality is when it comes in the mail.

Looks like I overpaid.

Mine (or , I should say; "My son's") was $2000 with a fresh timing belt change and fairly new battery.

So, looking on eBay you can assemble your own "kit" (2 hoses, 2 valves) for about $70.

Have people really found this helps stop oil leaks? I have a small leak on one of the cam covers, and the gaskets were just done, so I am figuring this may be the thing to do first before going after the cam cover gaskets.

Is there a part number for the updated / vented oil filler cap?

I have the china one on my car for almost a year now. Be prepared to use a heat gun to make the bends properly and cut some of the hose/pipe(whatever that plastic is mostly at the back of the engine. Also zip ties or metal clamps(screw in type) are useful after you cut it as it won't fit as nicely after you cut it. It rarely is an exact fit. The part were it connects to the valve cover on the passenger side leaked slowly as it would partly pop off. Zipped tie fixed it. I would suggest using some glue if you need to cut some of the hose as I noticed it is a bit 'wet' back there. No dripping yet. But now that's oily I can't glue it, and cleaning it is out of the question for me
