Default Coding to hold first gear

What is the coding procedure to modify the tiptronic to hold in first gear longer? My 1998 2.8 A6 stayed in first longer without needing to floor the accelerator. Similarly, it would stay in first in the tip position when using the engine to decelerate going down a steep hill. My 2001 A6 2.7 does neither. I was told this was a programming change by Audi, presumably for better fuel economy. I was also told this could be changed via VCDS. This was years ago and I have forgotten.

Anyone know how this is accomplished?

I'd like to know as well...It drives me nuts accelerating from a stop light in 2nd gear! I don't like tricking it into holding 1st.

So I changed the soft coding to 00032 and tried it out on my steep driveway. In the tip mode it holds first gear as long as I am accelerating. Nice. Don't have to floor it, just have to keep it going up in RPMs.

Then, going downhill in tip mode it holds first as long as I do not touch the gas and the car continues downhill. The second the car begins to level off it shifts into second. Would prefer it to not do this, but it is better than before the code change. Before I could not hold it in first at all. It shifted as soon as I started moving.

I will see how the sport position works in full auto later and report back.
