I know that it is easy to break that particular piece, so I wanted to ask first I need to remove it to install a new hazard switch and the switch/connector that I bought for my Vast Fan (thnx again BD!)

Default I've had good success...

...starging with the lower left corner, using a plastic putty knife under the trim and gently prying outward. There are six clips: 3 upper and 3 lower. A picture of where they are located is here (from the allorad forum). You can actually see one of the broken clips in this picture!

x-post to allroad forum

Default multiple pics and advice...

I took these pictures when I was replacing my hazard relay a while ago because the few words that were posted in the archives just didn't help me as much as pictures would've. It took me a while to remember to actually post them. Woops.

Advice: Have the cup holder go about half way out and hold it there. If you look into the dash through hole (where the cup goes) in the cup holder you can see the tabs. I used a flathead screwdriver, pried that tab off (carefully!!), and the rest of the tabs virtually all popped off into my hand.

The actual trim piece off the car so you can see the tabs and the securing mechanism. The top pieces are just clips so once you get the bottom tabs off, just pull and they'll come off the car.

The dash with the trim piece off. I have a 99 with the smaller radio than later models, but I'd assume the design of this area of the car never changed. You can see the areas below the cup holder and card holder (is this not the most useless thing in the car??) where the tabs are.

That is for the plastic trim...the wood trim is MUCH harder to remove.

I guess it's lucky that I do have the plastic piece then! (it is a 2000 after all.)
